Rann Utsav is a three-month festival held at the The White Salt of Kutch, usually from November to February. It celebrates the culture, craft, music and natural beauty of the Rann desert under a full moon sky. Ahmedabad is the most convenient departure point — well connected by road and rail to Bhuj, the nearest major town to the festival site. Most travellers fly into Ahmedabad, pick up their package and head straight to Kutch.
How we get you there
The route from Ahmedabad passes through Surendranagar and Bhuj. Our AC coaches or shared SUVs depart from a central pickup point in Ahmedabad, usually early morning to avoid the afternoon heat. Travel time is around 5 to 6 hours depending on road conditions, with one stop en route for breakfast and a break.
Tent City accommodation — what to expect
The Tent City is set up by Gujarat Tourism at Dhordo village. You can choose Swiss tents, AC Swiss tents or fully air-conditioned cottages depending on budget. All tents come with attached bathrooms, basic furniture and electricity, and the campus has a food court, craft bazaar, camel rides and a central stage for the evening performances. We recommend the AC cottage or AC Swiss tent for families and older travellers; for a young group or first-time visitors, a standard Swiss tent is perfectly comfortable and more affordable.
