If you are planning a trip to Jaisalmer, one thing is certain — you cannot leave without spending a night in the desert. And not just any night. A proper one, under open skies, with the Thar Desert all around you.
We run our camp right where the desert is at its most beautiful, about 42 km from Jaisalmer city at the famous Sam Sand Dunes. Here you get the full desert experience with comfortable tents, good food, folk music, camel rides and a bonfire under the stars. This is not a hotel with a desert-view room. This is the real thing.
Sam Sand Dunes is the most popular dune area near Jaisalmer. The sand here stretches far, the sunsets look like paintings, and the night sky is full of stars because there is very little light pollution. Most visitors come here for at least one evening — but stay overnight and you get what day visitors miss: the early morning silence, the sunrise over the dunes, and the feeling of waking up in the middle of the desert.
There are many camps at Sam Sand Dunes. We are not trying to be a hotel — we are a desert camp, and we do that one thing well. Our tents are well maintained, our food is freshly cooked at the camp, and our staff actually cares about making your stay good. We also do not overcrowd: bookings are kept limited so every guest gets personal attention and a peaceful stay.

Getting there
The nearest airport is Jaisalmer (JSA), about 15 km from the city. Jodhpur Airport is the other option, around 275 km away.

When to come
Peak season is November to February. If you are visiting then — especially around New Year or the Jaisalmer Desert Festival in February — book at least 2 to 3 weeks in advance.
