The festival
India's wine country, once a year
Nashik sits a few hours inland from Mumbai on the Deccan plateau, high enough and dry enough to grow wine grapes properly. Most of India's wine comes from here, and Sula is the estate that did most to make that true.
Once a year the vineyard turns into a festival site. Stages go up among the vines, the winery opens for tastings and tours, and for a weekend the place fills with people who have come as much for the setting as for the music.
It is an unusual festival in that the venue is the point. You are on a working estate, the hills are behind you, and the last act finishes with the vines still visible in the dark.

Why a tent beats a drive
Nashik's hotel stock is finite and the festival fills it, which pushes a lot of people into staying in town and driving out. That works until the music finishes.
Camping on or beside the estate removes the problem entirely. You walk back, and you wake up in the vineyard rather than in a car park on the way home.
More than the weekend
Nashik is worth more than two days. The wine region has a number of estates open to visitors, the Godavari rises nearby at Trimbakeshwar, and the city itself is one of the four Kumbh Mela sites.
If you are coming from a distance, it is worth building a few days around the festival rather than flying in and out for it.
Where you stay
The camp, not the nearest hotel
We build a camp on the ground for the length of the fair and take it away again afterwards. Everything in it is trucked in and installed for that window.
Swiss tents with attached washrooms
Proper beds, solid flooring, running hot water and a sit-out. Not a sleeping bag on the ground.
Power, water and drainage
Installed for the event and maintained through it, including lighting across the site after dark.
Dining and housekeeping
A kitchen and dining tent on site, and the tents serviced daily while you are out at the fair.
Our own crew on the ground
The people who built the camp are the people running it. Nothing is subcontracted to a local agent.
Practicalities
Getting to Nashik
- Mumbai is the usual arrival point, a few hours away by road.
- Nashik Road station is on the main line and is well served from Mumbai and Pune.
- The vineyard is outside the city, so plan the last stretch rather than assuming a taxi will be waiting.

When is Sula Fest held?
In the first part of the year, over a weekend. The dates and the line-up are announced by the organisers ahead of the season — ask us and we will confirm the current year before you commit to anything.
Is it only about wine?
No. It is a music festival held in a vineyard. The wine is a large part of the appeal and the tastings and tours run throughout, but the programme is the reason most people come.
How far is the camp from the stages?
Walking distance, which is the whole point of camping rather than staying in Nashik and driving out.
Can we combine it with Nashik itself?
Easily, and we would suggest it. Several other estates are open to visitors, Trimbakeshwar is close by, and Nashik is one of the four Kumbh Mela cities.
How far in advance should I book?
Earlier than feels necessary. These camps run for a handful of days a year, the dates do not move, and the tent count is fixed by what we can physically install. For the better-known fairs the good dates go a season ahead.
What is included in the tariff?
Accommodation in a furnished Swiss tent with an attached washroom, meals at the camp, housekeeping and on-site assistance. Travel to the festival, entry to ticketed events and anything personal sits outside it. We confirm the exact inclusions in writing with the quote.
Can you arrange transfers?
Yes. Tell us where you are arriving from and we will quote the transfer with the tent. For the remoter camps this is worth arranging in advance rather than on the day.
Is the camp suitable for families?
Yes. Tents can be set up for families, and the camp is staffed and lit through the night. Tell us the ages when you enquire and we will put you somewhere sensible on the site.
What does it cost?
It depends on the festival, the dates within it, the tent category and how many nights you want. There is no single rate across the seven. Send us the festival and your dates and we will send a written quote.
